You must demonstrate it in a way that benefits your colleagues and enhances their expertise too. If your skills and knowledge can aid your colleagues and team, your presence is surely valued. This establishes your reputation as an authority.
Knowledge Sharing is the Ultimate Form of Learning
According to the educational theory known as Bloom’s taxonomy, knowledge is acquired in six stages starting with remembering (lowest form of learning), understanding, applying knowledge, analyzing, evaluating and finally creating (highest form of learning).
In the final stage of learning, you will be quite capable of creating or doing something based on the knowledge you have gained. At that point, you may as well write about the subject so that others can benefit from what you have already learned yourself. When you start sharing your expert knowledge, you discover other people who may be writing about the same topics. This enables you to connect with colleagues or other experts in your field. By connecting with co-experts, a community of experts gradually emerges, giving you a chance to discuss your subject and deepen your knowledge. Eventually, these groups can even start creating content together. This enables you to create stronger content for your co-workers while learning from your fellow experts at the same time.
Creating a course or curated document takes time, but it is more efficient in the long run. If you are an expert in a certain field, you often have to answer questions from colleagues, give short presentations or work on an official course for the company as a subject matter expert. These actions combined take you a lot longer than creating a course. Plus, when creating a course, you are not bound to any time restraints.
